The BBC on Saturday apologised after erroneously tweeting that U.S. President Donald Trump had sustained an injury from a gunshot.

The station blamed the blunder on an unauthorised access of its system by unknown hackers.

“Apologies to anyone who saw an unusual Tweet from our account this morning,” the BBC said after taking down the misleading post. “We do appear to have been hacked and we are looking into how.”

BBC claims someone with access to the broadcaster’s Twitter account had posted shortly before 11:00 a.m. Saturday that Mr. Trump had sustained an injury to his arm after being shot.

“Breaking News: President Trump is injured in arm by gunfire,” the tweet said.

Mr. Trump assumed office on Friday as the 45th President of the United States.

Ex-miss Anambra Chidinma Okeke finally given back her official car

Ugwuone released a statement to the effect which says:

Ex-miss Anambra Chidinma Okeke finally given back her official car

The Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS) yesterday returned the prize vehicle to the former Anambra Beauty Queen and made her sign an undertaking that she would not grant press interviews or reveal the circumstances under which the prize car was returned to her. They threatened to have her detained if she breached that undertaking.

From one of the ABS insiders, the Management of ABS took this measure in order to stop Chidinma from continuing as Government witness in the criminal case going on in Lagos. The ABS wants to suppress the ongoing case because they were involved in the making and leak of the video. If the case were to go on, the accused person will reveal the truth. They met with Ms. Okeke without her lawyer. They told her that nobody was allowed to come for the meeting except her parents.

It is clear that Anambara State Government is behind this whole show of shame. They are doing everything to kill the case. Indeed, the DSS refused to make available to Chidinma and her lawyer the outcome of their investigation of the case explicitly because of the involvement of some Government officials in the scandal, particularly the Director of the ABS.

According to Naij; Emeka Ugwonye states, more updates will be coming your way. But as we warned, those who think that the Chidinma Okeke’s case would die quietly are joking. In fact, even Chidinma Okeke cannot stop this story. We have sufficient insider sources in Anambra State.

NOTE: The prize car was one of the prize award given to Chidima Okeke for winning the Beauty Pageantry for the year. The picture of the car and a ceremony is shown here. It is not yet clear what Chidinma plans to do about this development. But the pressure for her to keep quiet is high and Nigerians must not allow that to happen.”

Gylfi Sigurdsson scored the winner to seal Swansea’s first league victory at Anfield

Swansea lifted themselves off the bottom of the Premier League table and dealt a huge blow to Liverpool’s title hopes with a thrilling win at Anfield.

Gylfi Sigurdsson scored from close range with 16 minutes left to give Paul Clement his first win as Swans boss and the club their first away league victory over the Reds.

Roberto Firmino had struck twice to draw the hosts level after Fernando Llorente’s two goals in four minutes after the break.

The defeat leaves Liverpool seven points behind leaders Chelsea, who now have a game in hand, at home against Hull on Sunday.

The Tigers are one of three teams, along with Sunderland and Crystal Palace, leapfrogged by Swansea, who move up to 17th after only their second win in eight league games.

In the wake of last weekend’s demoralising 4-0 defeat by Arsenal, Clement said Swansea would be “naive” to ignore the possibility of Premier League relegation this season.

On the evidence of their performance at Anfield, it would be equally naive of anyone to write them off.

In the space of seven days they have gone from a side who collapsed at the first setback to one capable of rallying under extreme pressure.

Their first-half defensive display – which saw them restrict Liverpool to a couple of half-chances – belied their status as the club with the division’s most porous defence.

Their second-half performance was clinical, epitomised by Llorente’s two strikes – a close-range finish following Federico Fernandez’s header from a corner, followed by a header from Tom Carroll’s cross – and Sigurdsson’s decisive, well-placed finish. These were there only three efforts on target.

It was also gutsy. They had to dig very deep against a side who, before Saturday, were unbeaten in the league in over a year at home and who had scored 26 goals in their previous nine league games.

Some students in Ilorin have decried the sudden increase in price of garri, commonly referred to as “students’ food’’.

Some of the students expressed their concerns in separate interviews on Saturday in Ilorin.

The students said it had become almost impossible to have a day’s meal with the increase in the staple food.

A student of Kwara State Polytechnic, Dayo Abiodun, said that it was difficult to feed with the sudden increase in the price of Garri.

He said a bowl of garri which was sold at N150, now sold for N240 in the market, while a cup now sells at N30.

“In the past, you see your room mates sharing garri among themselves freely but since the end of last year, no student can afford to willingly give out a cup of the commodity.

“Garri is the most friendly and easily accessible food for us as students but now it has become scarce commodity in the hostel,’’ he said.

Another student, Suleman Sheriff, explained that garri used to be his fast food to quench hunger but the increase in its price had changed that.

“I was surprised to see the price of garri going up uncontrollably. Students are not finding it funny at the moment because it is our favourite food.

“We are not even talking about rice, beans, yam, palm oil or groundnut oil, garri should not have gone this far,’’ he said.

A student of the University of Ilorin, Kemi Adedeji, who described garri as the most stable food for students, said something must be done to bring down its price.

“No matter the situation in the country, the price of garri must be controlled for the sake of students and the average Nigerians, ‘’ she said.

Another student of the University of Ilorin, Kola Alabi, described the hike in price of garri as unjust, adding that this had only created a lot of hardships for the students.

“We students mostly survive on garri and now that the price is beyond our reach, what else do they want us to feed on,’’ he lamented.
