Nollywood actor, Barrister Kenneth Okonkwo has unceremoniously dumped the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and has now pitched tents with rival party the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Kenneth, a lawyer and a graduate of Business management from the University of Nigeria Nsukka, who joined PDP in 2014 seeking endorsement to emerge as the party’s candidate for the House of Assembly was pictured recently with APC chieftains when he was officially welcomed into the party fold by ex-Enugu House of Assembly speaker, Eugene Odo and Senator Fidelis Okoro.
One of the reasons cited by Kenneth for leaving the PDP was lack of discipline within the party but sources say the actor has not gotten over how he was side tracked at the PDP primaries in December 6, 2014 when the state chapter of the party jettisoned zoning in Nsukka/Igboeze South Federal Constituency.
That move automatically ruled him out of vying for contest for a seat in the House of Assembly and he stepped down following the Nsukka/ Igboeze South stakeholders meeting at the Governor’s lodge on December 3, 2014 where the Governor of Enugu openly endorsed the former chairman of the party, Vitta Abah who is from Nsukka East in contradiction to the zoning arrangement which ought to zone the House of Reps ticket to Nsukka West.
