Stop intimidating Igbos, Release Nnamdi Kanu – Cleric fires at Buhari

The Spiritual Director of the Holy Ghost Adoration Ministry, Uke, Anambra State, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obimma, has described the continued detention of the leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu, as an intimidation and perpetration of injustice by the Federal Government.
In an interview  at his Holy Ghost Ministry in Uke on Wednesday, Fr. Obimma said that Kanu, who he described as a freedom fighter, would not have deserved such torture in a nation where the rule of law is at work.
He asked: “How can a freedom fighter – someone fighting for the oppressed without a gun and without ammunition, be held hostage; whereas the Boko Haram sect and similar groups carrying machine guns, destroying things and disturbing law-abiding citizens are untouched.
“I wouldn’t see any reason why Nnamdi Kanu should be in prison till now,” Obimma said.
The fiery clergyman therefore charged the new leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo to speak out against the injustices being meted on Ndigbo without fear or favour.
He also appealed to governors from the South East Zone to speak out as well and called for a united Ndigbo to resist the forces of intimidation against them.
His words: “So, I want the Ohanaeze Ndigbo to speak out. I wonder what the South East governors are doing as regards that case. Those representing the Igbo at different fora, what are they doing?
“Although, an average Igbo man is selfish, but the earlier we caution ourselves, the better. We are not united. If we are playing football as a team without having unity of purpose, we cannot score a goal.
“Let the Igbo play as a team. All hands must be on deck. Pastors and Priests of God should speak out.
“I don’t even see the reason why Nnamdi Kanu should be tried secretly. It is uncalled for,” he declared.
