Adamawa State Government has confirmed one case of Lassa fever while 81 others have been quarantined and placed under investigation.
According to a statement from the State Ministry of Health, said the victim was first treated at Peace Hospital before been transferred to the Federal Medical Center, Yola.
The victim according to the statement by the Chief Information Officer, Abubakar Mohammed said the victim had started treatment from one of the private hospital.
The state government, however, said they were on top of the situation as adequate measures have been taken to a halt any eventual spread of the killer disease.
Residents meanwhile have been told to keep their environment clean and devoid of rodents.
The symptoms, they said includes fever, severe headache and general weakness.
Meanwhile, INDEPENDENT reported that relatives of patients in government hospitals have started withdrawing their sick ones for fear of being infected by the disease.
