There is an unconfirmed report making the rounds, that President Muhammad Buhari is set to name a new Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, to replace Babachir Lawal.
Post-Nigeria could recall, that Lawal was suspended on April 19, 2017, on an allegation of fraud in the award of contracts as head of the Presidential Initiatives for the North-East, PINE.
Following the suspension of the embattled SGF, Dr Habiba Lawal, the most senior Permanent Secretary in the office of the SGF, was appointed by the President in an acting capacity.
According to top sources, the new SGF may be no other person than former Senate President, Ken Nnamani, from Enugu State.
Although, Post-Nigeria has not been able to independently confirm the authenticity of the information.
Top Politicians in the country are however, said to be putting pressure on President Buhari to name Nnamani as Lawal’s successor, for “ethnic balancing”.
