OrderPaperToday – Following the passage and adoption of the 2018 budget, the House of Representatives has set up a committee to harmonise its provisions of the appropriation bill with the Senate’s version.
Although the figures of the budget remain the same as the one passed by the Senate, the House has amended some of the wording in the proposed budget to prevent spending without its approval.
With the House’s amendment, the chambers have to harmonize the two documents before it can be passed to law.
The total figure for the budget passed is ₦9,120,334,988,225. The budget shows an increase in the allocation to the National Assembly from N125billion passed last year to N139billion.
The Committee will be led by the Chairman of appropriations, Mustapha Dawaki (APC, Kano). Members of the Committee include: Orker Jev (APC, Benue), Yinka Ajayi (APC, Osun), Ibrahim Babangida (APC, Katsina) and Johnson Oghuma (APC, Edo).
