Gurupata Community in Gwagwalada Area Council, has appealed to the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) to adequately equip the primary healthcare centre in the area to ensure quality healthcare delivery.

The District Head of Gurupata Community, Mr Yohana Gata made the appeal on Wednesday.

According to him, if the health centre is adequately equipped with facilities, it will provide qualitative healthcare services to people in the community.

“This is the only healthcare centre in the entire neighbourhood, and it is not adequately equipped with facilities.

“We have approached the council severally on the need to either rehabilitate or equip the healthcare centre with facilities.

“We are appealing to the FCTA to come to our aid and equip our primary healthcare centre with health facilities.’’

He also decried the deplorable state of roads, epileptic power supply, poor water channels and poor equipment available at the health centre.

The district head added that the health centre could not adequately attend to emergency situations with the poor facilities on ground.

“The poor state of infrastructure has also hindered economic and social activities in the community.

“During the rainy season as well, the roads which are bad already become even worse as they are slippery.

“It has not been easy for us to convey farm produce to the market and we have always been forced to pay high transport fares,” Gata said.

He advised residents of the community to improve on the sanitary condition of the area by keeping their environment clean to prevent communicable diseases.
