Drama as Ondo House Assembly Impeaches Speaker, Deputy
Drama ensued on Friday in Akure as the Ondo State House of Assembly impeached David Oleyeloogun, its Speaker, as well as his deputy, Iroju Ogundeji.
The impeachment of both the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker was purportedly endorsed by 18 members of the house.
Olamide George has since been sworn in as the new Speaker andAbimbola Fajolu as new Deputy Speaker by the members of the house.
Fatai Olotu, Chairman of the House Committee on Information, who spoke to journalists after the plenary, said members of the House decided to impeach Oleyeloogun and Ogundeji due to financial impropriety, incompetence and high handedness.
Ondo State is currently controlled by the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
