Abakaliki – The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Uche Secondus and some other national leaders of the party will be in Ebonyi on Saturday, March 17 2018, to attend a rally in support of the re-election of Governor David Umahi in 2019.
The rally is being organised by the people of the Southern Senatorial Zone of the state where the governor hails from.
According to statement released in Abakaliki on Tuesday and signed by Deputy Speaker of Ebonyi state House of Assembly, Obasi Odefa Obasi, the rally will hold at the Government Secondary School, Afikpo, in Afikpo North Local Government Area of the state.
The rally will also to be attended by the National Vice Chairman of the party for South East, Chief Austine Umahi; Deputy Governor of Ebonyi state, Dr. Kelechi Igwe and the Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Francis Nwifuru among other top government functionaries.
In the statement, Odefa, who is also the President of Ebonyi South Political Office Holders’ Forum, disclosed that the rally will be used to adopt Governor David Umahi as the sole governorship candidate of the five council areas of the zone for the 2019 governorship elections in the state.
Odefa further stated that the zone will also use the occasion of the rally to formally commend and appreciate the Governor for the numerous infrastructural developments and human capital development effected in the zone in particular and the state in general by the governor within three years in office.
