Abakaliki – Ahead of Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly Elections, the Ebonyi State Chapter of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has backed the decision of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Party on endorsement of President Muhammadu Buhari for re-election.
INDEPENDENT reports that the NEC of the party recently dumped their presidential candidate and former Governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke, and declared total support for President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement in Abakaliki on Tuesday, the Chairman of the Party in the state, Hon. Austin Ituma-Nweze, said Ebonyi chapter of SDP has also adopted President Buhari as its own presidential candidate and would mobilize for his victory in Saturday’s election.
Mr. Ituma-Nweze said the Chapter took the decision in Ebonyi in clear demonstration of unalloyed commitment and absolute loyalty to the National Executive Committee (NEC) and the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.
He, however, stated that the Party in the state was not in any alliance with any party on the National Assembly, governorship and state assembly positions.
The SDP boss further expressed optimism that the party would win many National Assembly seats in the state in Saturday’s National Assembly elections, even as he urged members and supporters of the party in the state to get their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) ready and ensure they vote massively for all the candidates of the party during the polls.
