Benin – Edo State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Olusegun Odumosu, on Monday paraded 43 suspected criminals, including five persons who allegedly beat up a girl, stripped her naked and inserted pepper into her private part.
The Police Commissioner who gave the names of the five suspects as Otoghile Joel, 36; Lucky Igbinovia, 52; Edobor Osemwengie, 30; Kingsley Iyamu, 50 and Ekpomwen Friday, 25; said they committed the offence in Lucky Igbinovia’s house at Ugbiyokho quarters in Benin City, capital of Edo State.
Commissioner Odumosu said the five suspects while confessing to the crime, alleged that the victim, Favour Ada Friday, stole their iPhone worth N440,000 which led to her being stripped naked, beaten up and inserting of pepper into her private part.
The Edo police boss who said the five suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigation was concluded, also paraded eight armed robbery suspects.
He gave the names of the suspected robbers as Monday Nworie, whom he said was arrested by the operatives of Iguobazuwa police division, Saturday Egharevba and Paradise Osagiator who he also said were arrested by the Special Anti Robbery Squad while robbing filling station at Isihor, along Benin/Lagos Expressway, Benin city.
Also arrested for robbery, according to the CP, are Raphael Israel and Edobor Osaremwen who robbed people at Wire road while armed with locally made Revolver Pistol.
He also said one Amaechi Ndidi who robbed one Olamide Abayomi of his Toyota Corolla with registration number Lagos AKD-737-BS was arrested by the Special Anti Robbery Squad, while the operatives of Sabongida-Ora police Station arrested one Longe Blacky as a robbery suspect/cultist and recovered from him, one locally made cut to size gun, one single barrel gun, three live cartridges, one jack knife and one expended cartridge.
Police Commissioner Odumosu also paraded four murder suspects including Rufus Akande who allegedly killed his father, Usman Akande at Ibilo, Edo State, Esumen Emmanuel, Ehizode Israel and Idahosa Orobosa who he said were arrested in connection with the killing of one Oriakhi Osemwingie with a gun at Egor Quarters, Benin City.
Twenty-five young men, suspected to be members of various cult groups who have been involved in cult related killings in Benin City and environs were also paraded by the police commissioner.
