German Club Warns With Sign: ‘Whoever Pees Here Dies’

Pees Here Dies

In an attempt to stop men urinating up against it, a nightclub in south-western Germany has installed a sign that reads: “Whoever pees here dies.”

The harsh warning, however, is a piece of art, the Stuttgarter Zeitung and Stuttgarter Nachrichten newspapers reported on Friday.

The licencees of the White Noise club in the city centre of Stuttgart received the sign during a photo exhibition by an artist at the club in July 2015, when it was one of the items on display.

The sign does not seem to have been a success as the club’s cleaning staff still have to scrub the place down with bleach every day to clear away the smell of stale urine, Ninette Sander of the club told the newspapers.

She said:“the stink wafts through the whole passageway”.

The club is located in the underpass of an underground train station.

Public urination is raising more than a stink in other parts of Germany: Urine is eating away at the stonework of the world’s tallest church, Ulm Cathedral, causing structural damage.

Hamburg’s party district of Sankt Pauli has tried to crack down on outdoor peeing by painting walls with a moisture resistant paint that causes the pee to bounce off the walls and back at the offending persons.
