Lalong, Jos Carnival

Jos – Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State has unveiled the second edition of Jos 2018 Carnival scheduled to hold on the 2nd April 2018 in Jos, Plateau State.

The Governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the Plateau State Government, Honourable Rufus Bature, said: “The event is another unique opportunity for the state to strategically unveil and make a statement of commitment on the interest of the state Government in promoting Culture, Tourism and Hospitality in the State, to Nigeria and the World in general.

“Let me therefore thank the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Hospitality and all other Stakeholders in the Tourism Sector for the collaboration that made the first Jos Carnival in 2017 a success, and the commitment you all will be putting in to make the 2018 Carnival better than the first one.”

Lalong used the occasion to preach the message of Peace in his state saying in spite of their differences of faith, creed, ethnicity, political persuasion and geographical locations, their humanity and the gift of themselves to each other should be elevated beyond the things that seek to set them apart.

He further said the people of his state are better as one people on the Plateau, adding that they must continue to see each others as members of one family than those things that seek to divide them as one united people.

“As we bound on the foundation of love for one another, we will be laying a solid foundation for us to stand as a united front, to conquer all the odds that confront us. We are one people and as one people, we celebrate our rich cultural heritage and nature’s gift to us as a united people.

Speaking on the topic: “One People”, the keynote Speaker, Professor Dakas C.J. Dakas SAN, urged the people not to judged people by the context of their religion, ethnicity line but by their characters. That though, we have different colours, religion, ethnicity and political, but still one people created by God Almighty.

“If the people of Plateau State are united, there is nothing we set out to do that would be impossible.

“If it is your desire for Plateau State to remains as one, what role have anyone played to make sure peace reigns on the Plateau,” he stressed.
