Katsina – Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State has sworn in Justice Musa Danladi Abubakar as new Chief Judge of the State, and admonished him to ensure speedy dispensation of Justice in the state.
Justice Abubakar, until his appointment, was the Judge of the Katsina High Court and his appointment is on acting capacity pending the confirmation of the National Judicial Council (NJC).
At the swearing in ceremony at Government House, Governor Masari said the appointment of the new chief judge was on merit based on his competency, professionalism and display of fairness while delivery judgements.
The Governor described Justice Abubakar as an erudite jurist whose experience and practice of the legal profession has been a reproach, stressing that he has over the years established an enviable reputation as a man of conscience who is fair, just and firm in the discharge of his responsibilities.
His words, “You must work hard not to just follow in the footsteps of your predecessors, but surpass them by deepening Justice administration in the State. As a government we will assist you in discharging your responsibilities.
“We will not in any way as a government interfere in your activities as a judge. Even Your immediate predecessors can tell you this, we have never interfere in your affairs despite the lean resources accrued to the state we make sure that the judiciary is well refunded.
“You the Nigeria Judiciary has a history we produced two presidents federal court of appeal and one of them is here. Apart from so many justices at the Apex court, so Katsina has the history and I hope you will enrich the history.”
While promising to discharge his duty within the ambit of the law, Justice Abubakar applauded the spirit of fairness in Masari administration, stating that the judicial system in the state under his watch will ensure fairness and Justice while delivery judgments.
