Knifepoint Robbery: Man, 41, To Remain In Prison For 97 Days

Oluwaseyi Ogundiran, a 41-year-old man, who allegedly robbed another man of his money and other valuables worth N450, 000 at knifepoint on the road, is to spend the next 97 days in prison, a Lagos court ruled on Friday.

An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court which gave the ruling, ordered that the accused should be remanded in Kirikiri Prisons until the next adjournment after it refused his bail application.

The accused, Ogundiran,is  standing trial on a two-count charge of conspiracy and robbery.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Benson Emuerhi, told the court that the offences were committed on Nov. 12, 2017 at Iju-Ishaga, a suburb of Lagos.

Emuerhi said the accused ambushed the complainant, Mr Adeshola Rasheed, when he was returning home from work.

He alleged that the accused, who was armed with dangerous weapons, robbed the complainant of money and other valuables estimated at N450, 000.

“The accused was apprehended by passers-by, who handed him over to the police, while other accomplices escaped.”

The offences contravened Sections 197 and 299 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Bolanle Osunsanmi, adjourned the case until April 19.
