A landlord, Alhaji Mustafa Ibrahim, on Wednesday sought the assistance of Shari’a Court II, Magajin Gari, Kaduna to retrieve the N30,000 rent owed him by a tenant, Aliyu Usman.

The complainant, who resides at Kabala Costain Kaduna, told the court that Usman rented a shop from him at N2, 000 monthly but had failed to pay for 15 months.

Ibrahim said he decided to approach the court when he realised that Usman was not ready to pay any rent on the shop and the debt he owes.

“I want the court to assist me to retrieve my N30, 000 as rent from Usman who refused to pay me since last year.

“I also want the court to order him to pack out from the shop as a result of his inability to pay his rent”, he added.

The defendant, who pleaded guilty, requested the court to give him up to the end of March to pay the N30, 000 in full.

He told the court that he has only N17, 000 at hand and will require up to month end to get the remaining balance of N13, 000.

The Judge, Malam Musa Sa’ad ordered Usman to pay the N17, 000 to Ibrahim and gave him up to March 31, to bring the balance of N13,000.

Usman was also ordered to pack out of the shop within two weeks.
