THE National Coordinator of the Oodua People’s Congress, OPC, Gani Adams stepped out of seclusion today as part of the necessary traditions he has to perform before his installation as the 15th Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yoruba land.
The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, was seen receiving the OPC Coordinator, today after 20 years of the demise of the last occupant, the late Chief MKO Abiola, who died on July 7, 1998.
It was gathered that the new Aare Ona Kakanfo was not expected to see the Alaafin of Oyo before his seclusion. However, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi received the new Aare Ona Kakanfo today accompanied by a lot of well-wishers after his seclusion.
It was reported that an 80-member committee headed by Archbishop Ladigbolu had put plans in motion in conjunction with the committee set up by the state government to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the installation to belay any hitch before and after the event.
The event is witnessed by Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, former governors Adebayo Alao- Akala, Olusegun Mimiko and Emmanuel Uduaghan of Oyo, Ondo and Delta respectively.
Similarly, thousands of OPC members, as well as Odua Peoples Union, OPU, are attending.
Other key figure expected at the epochal celebration and installation ia vice-president, Prof Yemi Osinbajo.
