A Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Wednesday sentenced one Salisu Abubakar,25, to two months imprisonment for stabbing a man with bottle.
Abubakar who resides at Jabi Motor Park, Abuja, pleaded guilty to a count charge of causing grievous hurt and begged the court for leniency.
The judge, Mr Abubakar Sadiq, however, gave Abubakar an option of N5, 000 fine and warned him to desist from committing crime.
Sadiq said the punishment would have been stiffer if Abubakar had not saved the court the pains of protracted prosecution by admitting committing the offence.
The prosecuting counsel, Florence Auhioboh, had told the court that the matter was reported on Feb.1 at Utako Police Station, Abuja, by one Chigozie Onyinye, of Rahony Motor Transport.
Auhioboh said that on the same date, Abubakar went to Rahony Motor Transport and accosted the complainant, and violently used bottle and stabbed him on the cheek.
She said that the complainant raised an alarm which attracted other people and Abubakar was caught and handed over to the police.
She said that the complainant sustained serious injury on the left side of his cheek, adding that the offence contravened the Provisions of Sections 246 of the Penal Code.
