No specific date for the passage of 2018 budget- Senate

OrderPaperToday – The Senate Spokesperson, Sabi Abdullahi, has disclosed that there is no specific date for the passage of the 2018 budget.

Federal legislators are still receiving representatives from Ministries, Departments and Agencies in defending their budget.

Addressing newsmen on Tuesday, Senator Abdullahi said: “The budget process is on and I can’t tell you the specific date it is going to end.

“We are working very hard on it and we want to assure Nigerians that at the end of the day, we will have a budget that will serve the purpose of Nigerians.”

Meanwhile, the Senior Special Assistant on Sport to the Governor of Katsina State, Aminu Balele Kurfi also known as ‘Dan Arewa’ adorned the gates of the National Assembly with two large banners criticising the lawmakers for frustrating the approval of the appropriation bill.

The inscriptions on the banners read: “National Assembly, stop playing politics with 2018 budget. The masses are anxiously waiting. Pass the budget now or… “

“National Assembly, Stop killing the Nigerian economy and pass the 2018 budget now. Frustrating the president will no longer be tolerated by the masses.”
