Terry, Fabregas pay tribute to Conte as manager exits Chelsea

Tavecchio hints Chelsea boss Conte could return as Italy coach

English Premier League club, Chelsea are reportedly set to announce the sacking of Antonio Conte as their manager after reaching an agreement to terminate his contract.

The news of Conte’s departure broke in the British media space on Thursday. Although no statement has been made by the club, social media posts by John Terry and Cesc Fabregas suggest the authenticity.

Conte, whose three-year deal with the Blues has been cut short, will most likely be replaced by former Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri.

Conte won the Premier League title in his first season at Chelsea, who were unable to defend their title, finishing fifth last season but clinched the FA Cup in May.

Fabregas wrote on Twitter: “Thank you Mister for another Premier League title and FA Cup. It wasn’t easy for me to convince you in the beginning but in the end I hope I did you proud! Good luck for the future.”

Former Chelsea captain Terry – who left in the summer of 2017 – wrote on Instagram: “Thanks for everything Boss. In a time that should have been the most difficult season of my career, Antonio was honest, respectful and there for me whenever I needed him.

“I loved working and learning from him. Thank you for everything boss.”

Chelsea have refused to comment on the status of 48-year-old Conte, who was a former manager of the Italian national team and Serie A giants Juventus.

Meanwhile, should Sarri be appointed as Conte’s successor, he would be Chelsea’s ninth full-time manager since Roman Abramovich bought the club in 2003.
