Uganda: 13-year-old died in grenade explosion

 

Uganda – On Monday, at Musoni village, Kamet Sub County in Bukwo District, a 13-year-old boy died after a grenade he was playing exploded.

 

The Sipi region police spokesperson, Mr Rogers Taitika, who confirmed the incident, has identified the deceased as Chemos Kenan, a pupil at Kamet Primary school.

 

Taitika said: We regret the death of a young boy. The grenade blasted him on the stomach and died on spot.

 

“When he picked the grenade, he started hitting it with a mental thus blasting and killing him instantly.

 

“We have the fragments of the blast which we are to forward to the Tactical Field Engineering Unit. We appeal to the people in Sipi region to report any suspicious object they come across to the security for quick response.”

 

The body was taken to Bukwo District hospital for post-mortem.
