Nnewi – A civil rights group, the Civil Liberties Organization (CLO) Anambra state chapter has urged Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of St. Valentine by showing love to each other and likened the killings by herdsmen in various areas parts of the country, Boko Haram insurgencies and other ethnic rivalries as a breakdown of love among the citizens.
The CLO Chairman in the state, Comrade Vincent Ezekwueme in a release made available to newsmen in Nnewi on Tuesday urged the citizens to listen to the words of God and not the voice of a man.
He advocated for selfless service through love and sympathy as demonstrated by late St. Valentine who made the supreme sacrifice of love despite all odds reconcile soldiers living with their concubines by administering the sacrament of matrimony on them in defiance of Emperor directive that the soldiers must not marry in order to be strong enough to protect the kingdom.
