Abuja – With five days to the February 16 presidential and national assembly elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) says it has opened telephone contacts and conversation with Nigerian electorates through which over 20 million have been reached.
Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, Director of Field Operations of the APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), made disclosure on Monday in Abuja.
He said his field operations team has carried the presidential campaign to every community in the country through its door-to-door and telephone calls campaign,.adding more people would be reached before the Saturday poll.
For effective delivery on its mandate he said the Directorate was divided into three sub-committees for effective campaign. According to him, the subcommittees are: Telephone call team, Door-to-Door canvassers and Social Media team.
The former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) said the goal of the field operations team was to at least reach 50 million electorates painting out the Directorate activities was funded via voluntary contributions from members.
He stated that majority of the 67,000 youths working under his Directorate as door-to-door canvassers or telephone canvassers are doing so as volunteers.
“Everybody working here is working as a volunteer. We don’t have money but we are doing the job given to the Directorate.
“We have the Christian, Muslim and ethnic organizations working with us to campaign to Nigerians.”
According to him the Directorate was not to run down any of candidates but to tell the electorate what the President has done and what the President would do if reelected.
So far he said. the Directorate has done a lot in taking the campaign to individual voters and. asked the Presidential Campaign Council to assist the Directorate to enable it reach out to those who have not been reached.
