IBADAN – Youths in the Southwest geopolitical zone of Nigeria under the aegis of Yoruba Youth Forum (YYF) on Monday promised to deliver over ten million votes for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubarka, in this Saturday’s election.
Comrade Oluwasegun Abiodun Bolarinwa, president of YYF, who made the promise while speaking with journalists in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, boasted that Atiku would defeat President Muhammad Bahari, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, in the zone.
Bolarinwa said his group had endorsed the candidature of the PDP presidential candidate ahead of the February 16 polls, because of the conviction that Atiku was the best among candidates of different political parties.
He, however, revealed that his life has been in danger since his group endorsed the candidature of Atiku, as the decision did not go down well with some political leaders in the zone.
Specifically, the YYF president revealed that about two weeks ago, some suspected political thugs attacked him in Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos during which his car was badly vandalized
He said, “On that fateful day, I was driving somewhere in Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State, suddenly about 40 armed men suspected to be political thugs stopped my car and started to attack me. They damaged my Mercedes Benz car beyond repair. It took the grace of God for me to escape from the scene”.
Bolarinwa declared that the decision to support the PDP’s presidential candidate was not his personal decision, but decision of entire members of the apex Yoruba youth sociocultural group.
