The Muslim Rights Concern, MURIC has described the decision last week by Edo State House of Assembly to vote N200m mansion for ex Governor Adams Oshiomhole as a misplaced priority.
The group’s director, Professor Ishaq Akintola said in a statement that “While the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) acknowledges the contributions of former governor Adams Oshiomole, we frown at the sycophant note in the state Assembly’s decision to give him a N200 million mansion as a parting gift.
Outgoing Governor of Edo State,Adams Oshiomhole has dissolved his cabinet.This was disclosed in a statement by Peter Okhiria,the chief press secretary to Oshiomhole,Friday night.
The statement said “Following the formal handover by the Governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole, CON, mni, to the Governor-elect, Mr Godwin Obaseki on 11th November 2016, 2016, the State Executive Council, all Boards and Committees are hereby dissolved.
“Political office holders should hand over to the Permanent Secretary or highest ranking service officer in the Ministry, Department and Agency.
Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has appointed four new Permanent-Secretaries in the State.
Those appointed are Mr Anthony Okungbowa, Ministry of Justice; Mr Kadiri Bashiru, Secretary, Nigeria Labour Congress; Mr Y.A Imoudu, Chairman, Association of Secondary School Principals and Mrs Obosamwinye Obazee, Headmistress.
The swearing-in of the new appointees was scheduled for 2:00pm at old Exco Chambers, Government House, Benin City.
Governor Adams Oshiomhole’s government in Edo State has deposed Mr Aselm O Edenojie as the Ojuromi of Uromi.
His deposition is contained in a letter signed by Secretary to the State Government, Prof Julius Ihonvbere, dated 9th November 2016 and addressed to “Mr Aselm O. Edenojie”.
Entitled “Deposition from Office as Ojuromi of Uromi: Addendum”, the Government stated: “please be informed that the initial Exco decision of 26th October 2016 has been further affirmed,
“Consequently, you have been deposed as the Ojuromi of Uromi pursuant to Section 28 (i & ii) of the Traditional Rulers & Chiefs Law, 1979.
“Kindly, therefore, disregard our letter of 4th November 2016 on the subject “Re: Letter of Apology to Edo State Government.”
President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday in Benin commended outgoing Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State for a job-well done, assuring him that the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) will find an important national assignment for him when he leaves office.
Speaking at the Palace of the new Oba of Benin, His Royal Highness Omo N’Oba N’Edo Nku Akpolokpolo Ewuare 11, shortly before he embarked on the commissioning of several projects in the State, President Buhari said that the country would be the loser if the APC fails to utilize the people’s governor’s wisdom, skill and energy.
