G20: Obama warns Beijing against South China Sea aggression

As he arrives in China, US president says he has attempted to convince Xi Jinping of the benefits of restraint

Beijing must avoid flexing its muscles in the South China Sea, US president Barack Obama has warned as he arrives in China on the first leg of his final tour of Asia.

In an interview with CNN, set to be broadcast on Sunday to coincide with the start of the G20, Obama said he had attempted to convince President Xi Jinping of the benefits of restraint.
