Mahmoud Hussain, an Al Jazeera news producer has been arrested in Egypt for “provoking sedition” on behalf of the Qatar-based broadcaster
The country’s authorities says it considers the organisation a mouthpiece of the banned Muslim Brotherhood.
Reports especially from judicial sources reveal that the news producer is also being held on charges of disturbing public security and spreading false news.
According to a statement by the Egyptian Interior Ministry the Al Jazeera officials “had ordered some individuals collaborating with the channel inside the country to continue implementing its media plan of provoking sedition, incitement against the state, and spreading chaos through broadcasting false news.”
