A middle aged man identified as Mr. Rasak Alabi is now cooling his heels in police net after allegedly battering his wife’s niece, Latifat Adeyemi, over her use of an air conditioning unit in their house located in Ikorodu.
According to reports, 20 years after separating from his wife (a nurse, who is based in the United States of America) for over 20 years, Alabi moved into the building where Adeyemi and her grandma stayed after reconciling differences with his wife.
Reports say ever since Alabi moved into the residence, he has had clashes with Adeyemi mostly over using the air conditioner in her room which Alabi claims consumes too much voltage.
Trouble started when Alabi allegedly disconnected the air conditioner without Adeyemi’s consent which led to a war or words with Alabi allegedly hitting Adeyemi with a spanner and also lashing her with a cable following a squabble.
Alabi was later arrested by men of Lagos State Police Command who were accompanied by officials of the Lagos State Office of the Public Defender following a directive from the state Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni.
According to SP Dolapo Badmos, the Police Public Relations Officer; “The CP took up the matter and ordered that he should be fished out. He was arrested in his hideout in Ikorodu around 1.30pm. He resisted arrest, but was overpowered by the operatives.
“The case will be transferred to the gender unit of the command as directed by the CP. If he is found culpable, he will be duly prosecuted.”
