At least 40 Nigerians were on Tuesday deported from Italy over alleged immigration and criminal offences.
The deportees, males and females, landed at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos Tuesday night aboard an Air Meridiana aircraft with registration number E1-FNU.
While there was no official reason given for their deportation, it was however learnt that the government of Italy sent 39 of them back to Nigeria for offences bordering on immigration while one of them is said to have issues with drug dealings.
Recently, stories of deportation of Nigerians had continued to dominate news headlines as they’ve been sent packing from Germany, Libya and more recently, 23 were repatriated from the United Kingdom over similar offences to the present ones from Italy.
