NASS Willing To Assist ECOWAS Parliament – Sani-Omolori

The Clerk to the National Assembly (CNA), Mohammed Sani-Omolori, has said that there was no alternative to having a harmonious working relationship between Nigeria’s Assembly and ECOWAS Parliament

Sani-Omolori disclosed this on Thursday when the General-Secretary of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Parliament, Dr. Nelson Magbegbeola, led a delegation on a courtesy visit to his office at the National Assembly complex.

Earlier, Magbegbeola, who was recently appointed as the Secretary-General of ECOWAS Parliament, told Sani-Omolori that they came to felicitate with him over his recent elevation to the position of CNA.

He said that it was customary for a delegation of ECOWAS Parliament based in Nigeria to pay homage to the Parliament of the host-country.

The ECOWAS Parliament scribe added that they were also at the National Assembly to discuss a number of issues with the CNA in order to see how they could foster a mutual relationship between both parliamentary bodies.

Responding, Sani-Omolori said: “Both of us are freshers. It means we have something in common. Our appointment is a call to duty especially coming at a most auspicious time when there are high expectations from both national and regional parliaments.”

He explained that his appointment was a call to duty, coming at a time when there were high expectations from both national and regional Parliaments in Africa.

The Clerk added that the visit came at the right time because the two institutions have a lot in common going by their operations.

He further assured the ECOWAS delegation that within the next few weeks, Nigeria’s National Assembly would make itself available in every aspect the ECOWAS Parliament would want to be assisted.
