The contractor handling the construction of Awka township stadium, Mr Ebi Egbe has assured that the stadium will on completion not only be the best in southeast and in the south but the best mini stadium in sub-saharan Africa, except for the Godswill Akpabio international stadium.
Speaking at the project site in Awka, Egbe who is the Chief Executive Officer, (CEO) of Monimichelle Sports Facility Construction Ltd, explained that the construction of the stadium will be in three phase.
According to him, the first phase which will address important facilities like, track and field, dressing rooms, terraces, changing rooms and the General aesthetics of the stadium is expected to be completed by December 2020.
He added, “The second phase will address areas such as the Governor’s lounge, cubicles for sale to fan base during match days and press conference room.
“The third and final phase which will require temporal closure of the stadium for about six months will handle complete covering of the pavilions.
“My company will put in technology that will make the Awka Township Stadium the best in the South East and South Zones with exception of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.”
The FIFA licensed football agent said that Monimichelle is a company that uses local content as it understands the African market, the topography and the need to put in a facility that will stand the test of time.
While promising Anambra people that the Awka Township Stadium will be the best mini stadium in sub-saharan Africa, Egbe stressed that he is working on various points in the site where there are steep slope so as to develop slope protection and add beauty to the main bowl.
