Killings: Lawmaker Hails Buhari On N10bn Support Fund

Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a member of the Osun State House of Assembly, has hailed President Muhammadu Buhari for approving N10 billion for the rehabilitation of communities affected by violent attacks in parts of the country, especially in Benue State.

Oyintiloye, who represents Obokun Constituency in the state Assembly, said that the move, which is being supervised by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, is a step in the right direction, averring that the rehabilitation of the affected communities and return of victims to their settlement was a laudable effort by the president.

The lawmaker, who doubles as the Chairman, House Committee on Information and Strategy, said that the president had shown commitment to providing effective security and ensuring that affected people could go back to their homes and rebuild the communities, restore farms, support traders and ensure that children were back to school.

Olatunbosun, who condoled with the families that lost loved ones in the fracas, said unity of purpose was needed to win the war against insurgency, urging Nigerians to dismiss the religious colorations and other bias sentiments that were always attached to criminal attacks and killings in the country.

Benue state had experienced several attacks by persons suspected to be Fulani herdsmen, leading to the killing of hundreds of people, with thousands currently displaced from their ancestral lands.
