Oyo Govt. Restates Commitment To Efficient Service Delivery

Gov. Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo

Oyo State Government says it will continue to reward civil and public servants in the state for efficiency and effectiveness in service delivery.

Dr Isaac Ayandele, the Special Adviser to Gov. Abiola Ajimobi on Efficiency, said this in a statement made available to newsmen in Ibadan.

The News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) recalls that the state government had, during the 2018 inter-faith prayer session held to mark the beginning of the year, rewarded 34 workers for efficiency and effectiveness.

NAN reports that the 34 awardees were rewarded with cash gifts of N100,000 each.

The governor had at the forum declared that promotion of civil and public servants in the various MDAs across the state would be based on merit.

Ayandele, in the statement, said that the reforms and restructuring of the workforce embarked on by the state government had yielded fruitful results.

He stated that the government’s commitment to efficient service delivery necessitated the awards and reward for efficient performance in the civil and public service.

“You will recall that state government awarded workers and MDAs, who had discharged their duties efficiently and effectively in the year 2017.

“This was in three different categories, namely Most Efficient MDA, Most Efficient Staff in each MDA and the overall Most Efficient civil and public servant in the state.”

Ayandele explained that the ongoing reforms and restructuring in the state civil and public services had yielded positive results.

“We now have hard-working, committed and dedicated civil/public servants.’’

He said that the conduct and attitude of workers had changed positively, adding that government was reaping from the efficiency and effectiveness of its workforce.

“Though, we still have those who are not up to speed but we believe that if the majority of the workforce are efficient and effective in discharging their duties, civil/public service in the state will be better for it.

“We are not expecting 100 per cent but quality representation of the efficient ones will add value to the transformation and repositioning agenda of the governor.”

The special adviser pledged that the government would continue to recognise and appreciate workers found worthy.

He said that such would encourage government’s employees to stretch, set new challenges and maximize their ability to contribute to the development of the state.

The governor’s aide said that diligent, careful and critical assessment would be employed to determine those to be recognized.

Ayandele said that each awardee must be found to be obedient, industrious, honest, disciplined, dedicated, creative and professional like those rewarded in 2017.
