Panfilov's 28 Guardsmen and the Revival of Great Russian Cinema

Next month marks the release of Panfilov’s 28 Men, a story of the heroism of the soldiers of the Red Army’s 316th Rifle Division, who helped defend Moscow during WWII. The film’s subject matter, and the fact that it was created thanks to 35,000 individual donations, has led some to hope that the movie will mark the rebirth of great Russian cinema.
