The Lagos State Police Command has debunked the purported declaration of dusk -to- dawn curfew in Itire community of the state.
“This declaration is not to the knowledge and approval of the police, whose statutory duty is to enforce restriction of movements,” the state police command said.
According to a statement released from the Office of spokesperson of the command, SP Dolapo Badmos, the police warned mischief makers to resist from unlawful act saying that “the command hereby advise residents of Itire community in particular and Lagos State in general to disregard the declaration and go about their lawful activities as it warns all mischief makers to exercise caution”.
She added that “any act of disturbance or threat to public peace will be duly resisted and dealt with in accordance with stipulated laws.
“Furtherance to this false declaration, adequate response team has been put in place to combat any break down of law and order as police visibility will be sustained in the community and Lagos in general”.
