Protest In Benue Over Govt’s Plan To Scrap College

Hundreds of students of the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Benue State, on Friday took over major roads leading into the institution during a protest over a new policy by the Federal Government to scrap non related courses in institutions specialised in particular disciplines.

The students, who barricaded the entrance of the institution, causing heavy traffic in the process, were later joined in the protest by some academic staff of the College of Management Studies.

Speaking during the demonstration, a year three student, David Pine, appealed to the Federal Government to rescind its decision, calling for a more dedication in improving the education system in the country.
