Following the recent new outbreaks of Wild Polio Virus (WPV) in Borno state, Sokoto State Government has resolved to increase the number of routine polio immunisation (RI) to five rounds.
The state Deputy Governor, who is also the Chairman of the Task Force Committee on Polio Eradication and Improvement of Routine Immunisation, Alhaji Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto disclosed this during a meeting of the Committee on Thursday.
Describing the outbreak of 3 cases of WPV in Borno as a serious set back, especially when nigeria was gradually becoming a polio-free State, the deputy governor tasked stakeholders on polio eradication to sit up and go back to the field to ensure that no polio case was recorded in the state.
Aliyu announced that the state was set to flag off another round of polio immunisation campaign scheduled to hold between 17th and 20th of this month and urged all stakeholders to attend.
