Square Enix announced King’s Knight: Wrath of the Dark Dragon for mobile. The scrolling shooter is from the Final Fantasy XV universe, and it will challenge players to rescue Princess Claire of Olthea from an evil dragon. In Final Fantasy XV, Square Enix said Noctis and his friends can be found playing this game “during their downtime.”

King’s Knight: Wrath of the Dark Dragon is a “nod” to the original King’s Knight, which was released on the Nintendo Entertainment System 30 years ago.

In King’s Knight: Wrath of the Dark Dragon, the world will scroll automatically as users play, and users will be able to move their heroes to attack enemies or avoid oncoming attacks. The game will feature four main heroes and more than 50 companion characters. Gamers will be able to upgrade their heroes’ weapons over time.

In addition to single-player gameplay, the game will include a cooperative multiplayer mode for up to four players.

King’s Knight: Wrath of the Dark Dragon is expected to launch for free on iOS and Android later this year. Users can pre-register for the game for a chance to receive an in-game reward once the game launches.
