Sultan Declares September 12 As Eid-el-Kabir

Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar has declared Monday, September 12, 2016 as Eid-El-Kabir Day, 1437 AH.

The declaration was contained in a statement signed by Prof. Sambo Junaidu, who is Chairman, Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs to the Sultanate Council and issued to news men, Friday night.

Following the declaration, September 3rd 2016 has also been declared as the 1st of Zulhijja, 1437 AH.

According to the statement, “The Advisory Committee, in conjunction with the National Moon Sighting Committee received reports from various states Moon Sighting committees across the country. The reports confirmed the sighting of the new moon of Zulhijja,1437 AH on Friday, 2nd September, 2016, which was the 29th day of Zulka’ada, 1437 AH.”

It added that the Sultan accepted the reports and declared Saturday, 3rd September, 2016, as the 1st day of Zulhijja,1437 AH. “Therefore, Monday 12th September, 2016 which will be equivalent to 10th Zulhijja, will be marked as this year’s Eid-El-Kabir.”

The Sultan felicitated with Nigerian Muslim Ummah and urged them to continue to pray for peace, progress and development of the country.
