Trump’s supporters are dropping away like flies.

Pratik Chougule, managing editor of the National Interest and Donald Trump’s former policy coordinator, announced on LinkedIn Saturday: “Under no circumstances will I support Donald Trump for president.”

He wrote: “I regret my decision last April to join the campaign as policy coordinator. Although I left the campaign in August for a variety of reasons, I wish that I had done so sooner and spoken out more forcefully against a candidate who embodies the worst excesses of our culture.”

Trump’s disgusting comments about women in 2005 behind the closed doors of a bus, a recording of which was released by Washington Post Friday, are revealing of the candidate’s true nature. He brags about groping women and making uninvited advances on a married woman. His language of objectification and disrespect in the clip is obtuse and rapey. While not surprising to anyone who’s been paying attention to Trump’s long and vile history of sexism and misogyny, it was so blatant this time that Trump’s supporters are dropping away like flies.

Sen. John McCain released a statement on Friday night stating:

“There are no excuses for Donald Trump’s offensive and demeaning comments. No woman should ever be victimized by this kind of inappropriate behavior. He alone bears the burden of his conduct and alone should suffer the consequences.”

Reince Priebus, the Republican National Committee chair, said there are “no excuses” for this kind of language and Paul Ryan uninvited Trump to an event in Wisconsin, saying he is “sickened” by Trump’s comments.

Many more GOPers have been slamming Trump for his comments, some even calling on him to drop out of the race for president according to CNN.

Before you get your hopes up you should know Trump said Saturday, after a limp non-apology, there is “zero chance” of that. We can always dream.
