A new Area Commander of the Nigerian Police Force has assumed office at the Ughelli Police Force Command, Delta State.
The new police boss, Usman Ndanbabo from Niger State, is an Assistant Commissioner of Police and had served in various capacities in Abuja and Lagos before he was posted to Ughelli command.
Speaking to journalists yesterday in Ughelli, Mr. Ndanbabo warned criminals to relocate elsewhere or face the wrath of the police.
While soliciting support from the general public, the Area Commander urged well-meaning Deltans to assist the police by giving useful information as to where and how criminals can be apprehended, saying that their identities will be kept in confidence, adding that security had become everybody’s business considering the present state of insecurity.
His words: “I want to thank my boss, the new police boss, Zanna Ibrahim for his good approach since he assumed office, security now is everybody job, we want useful information to be able to locate the hideouts of criminals, we will keep the identity of the informants” and promised to improve on the predecessor.
He vowed not tolerate any officer who does otherwise in the course of discharging his/her duties, assuring that he will maintain the good name of the Nigeria Police Force.
He expressed need for to collaborate with the vigilante groups in the area, adding that the police had mapped out strategies with a view to arresting the kidnapping upsurge in the area.
“We will ensure that criminal activities in Ughelli is a thing of the past with our new strategies, all the vigilante groups in the area we will collaborate with them and ensured we all work together for the successes of eradicating crimes in Ughelli and its environs”, the Area Commander added
