April 2009

On April 23, 2009, the then Managing Director, Mr. Akinsola Akinfemiwa OON, was conferred with an honorary Doctoral Degree by Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomosho in recognition of his immense contributions to the education sector specifically, and the society generally.

November 2009

ATM Efficient Award winning Banks: At the November 2009 e-payment Awards which took place in Calabar, Skye Bank won three different awards for

Transaction efficiency through ATMs;

Large rollout of ATM and

Leading e-payment bank in the country.

Criteria used by the organizers of the awards included efficiency of the ATMs, volume of transaction done through the bank’s ATMs, the large number of people using the bank’s ATMs, among others. In addition to having physical presence in its core markets, the bank built a leading e-platform which has allowed it to become an industry leader in internally generated revenues as well as building a Tier 1 network of automated teller machines (ATMs) and point of sales terminals.

The University of Nigeria Alumni Association conferred the Lifetime Achievement Award on the GMD in December 2009 due to his monumental contributions to the school and education in general.

The bank also won the best bank in e-banking award at the African Telecom Awards.

CampusCard, an e-banking product from Skye Bank won the “Fastest Growing e-Banking Product in Nigeria” award from the Association of Electronics and Computer Engineering Students of Lagos State University.
