Rivers State Governor, Chief Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike on Wednesday slammed four of his commissioners, the Head of Service and one special adviser with a three-month suspension.
Those affected by the suspension include, commissioner for Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. John Bazia and his counterpart in the Ministry of Finance, Dr. Fred Kpakol.
Also suspended are the commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Mrs. Tonye Briggs-Oniyide as well as the commissioner for Sports, Hon. Boma Iyaye.
Wike, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Wednesday by his special assistant on Electronic Media, Simeon Nwakaudu, further announced the suspension of the Head of Service, Barrister Rufus Godwins and the special adviser on Lands, Chief Anugbum Onuoha.
Although, the governor did not give reasons for the suspension, a source close to Government House, Port Harcourt told LEADERSHIP that the affected political appointees failed to attend the weekly state executive council meeting.
